PREP ("the app", "we", "us") is a nutrition and meal-prep tracking application, built and maintained by an independent developer. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use PREP, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language, because you should not need a law degree to understand what happens to your data.
PREP is operated by its developer, reachable at prep.app.contact@gmail.com. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the developer is the data controller for the personal data described below.
Account data. PREP uses Google Sign-In as the only way to create an account. When you sign in, Google provides us with your email address, the name on your Google account, and a link to your Google profile picture, along with a unique account identifier. PREP does not display your Google name or photo anywhere in the app; we simply hold this as part of your account record. We do not receive your Google password or your contacts, and we do not post anything to your Google account.
Profile data you enter. PREP works by letting you enter information about yourself and, if you choose, a partner or someone you share meal prep with: a display name, sex, age, height, weight, and nutrition goals. You choose what to enter. This data exists so the app can calculate calorie and macronutrient targets for you. That is its only purpose.
Health and body measurements. If you use these features, PREP stores your food and macro logs, body weight over time, and any additional measurements you choose to enter, including body fat percentage, waist, arm, chest, hip, and thigh measurements. All of this is optional.
Recipes and foods you create. Recipes, custom foods, favourites, and recently used foods that you create or mark are stored on our servers so they follow your account across devices.
Data kept only on your device. Some things never leave your phone, and are not tied to your account at all: your shopping list, any meal plan you are actively building before logging it, custom categories you create for foods or recipes, and app settings and preferences. This means it does not sync between your devices, and if you sign into a different account on the same phone, that account would see the same local data. Clearing your phone's app data, or uninstalling PREP, removes it. It is not backed up by us.
Barcode lookups. When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts, a public non-profit food database, to retrieve product information. No account information, sign-in token, or device identifier is sent with these requests.
What we do NOT collect. PREP does not collect your location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below, who process it on our behalf.
Your account and usage data are stored in a database operated by Supabase, our hosting provider, in the European Union (region eu-west-3, Paris, France). Some data, described above, is also stored locally on your device so the app works smoothly. This local copy is removed if you clear the app's storage, delete your account, or uninstall the app.
PREP offers an optional monthly subscription. If you subscribe, payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your card details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription management service, to keep track of whether your account has an active subscription, so that status works correctly across your devices. RevenueCat receives a purchase identifier, not your payment details.
We process your data because it is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). The app cannot calculate targets or keep your logs without it. Where we rely on any other basis, such as a legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Article 6(1)(f)), we do so narrowly.
A note on health-related data: weight, body measurements, dietary intake, and similar entries can be considered health data. We process these solely because you enter them for the purpose of using the app's features, and we ask for your explicit consent to do so when you create a profile (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR).
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete data in PREP, it is removed from our live database immediately. Like most cloud-hosted services, our database provider keeps routine backups for a limited period as a safeguard against technical failure. This means a copy of deleted data may continue to exist in a backup for a short time after deletion, until that backup is naturally cycled out. We do not access or restore individual users' data from backups except in the case of a genuine technical failure affecting the service as a whole.
You do not need to delete your account to remove specific information. Inside PREP, you can at any time delete individual food log entries or entire logged days, delete recipes and custom foods you have created, and clear items from your shopping list. These actions take effect immediately and do not require contacting us.
You can permanently delete your PREP account and all associated data at any time from within the app: go to Settings, then Delete account. This removes your profiles, food and macro logs, body measurement history, recipes, custom foods, and your account sign-in record. This action is immediate and cannot be undone from within the app. As explained above, a copy of this data may briefly persist in routine backups before it is fully cycled out.
If you are unable to sign in or open PREP, you can request deletion by email:
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. If you have an active PREP subscription, deleting your account does not automatically cancel it, because subscriptions are billed and managed through Google Play, separately from your PREP account. To cancel, open the Google Play Store app, go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select PREP, and cancel from there. We recommend cancelling your subscription before or after deleting your account, since deletion alone does not stop billing.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it in a portable format, restrict or object to its processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Most of these you can exercise directly in the app, as described above. For anything else, email prep.app.contact@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Romania this is the Autoritatea Nationala de Supraveghere a Prelucrarii Datelor cu Caracter Personal (ANSPDCP), www.dataprotection.ro.
PREP is intended for users aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe an underage user has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
PREP is a general nutrition and fitness tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified professional for medical or health decisions.
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and inform you in the app before the change takes effect. We will never quietly expand what we collect.
